Do I have to pay tariffs or import taxes when ordering from the USA?
In most cases, no – especially if you're ordering books.
- Books are printed and shipped from the UK. According to 2025 U.S. legislation, books imported from outside the U.S. are currently exempt from tariffs.
- Tools are shipped from Finland (EU). Orders under $800 USD usually qualify for duty-free import under the de minimis threshold.
We don’t collect U.S. tariffs or import taxes at checkout. If any fees apply, they’ll be handled by the shipping carrier upon delivery.

I’m looking for Hanna Nore’s book "Tanning Game," but I heard it’s sold out! When will it be restocked?

Can I use PayPal as a payment option?
At this time, we have decided not to include PayPal as a payment option. However, we offer several other secure payment methods for your convenience. Our shop uses Shopify Payments and Paytrail as payment processors, and we accept Amex, Apple Pay, Google Pay, Mastercard, Shop Pay, Union Pay, and Visa. We are continually evaluating our payment options to best serve our customers.
I have a problem with my tanning project, can I ask for advice?
Hanna Nore, our shopkeeper, frequently receives inquiries about various tanning projects. While she is happy to help when she has the time, we highly recommend Hanna's books, Tanning Game and Fish Leather, which offer a wealth of information and guidance on the topic. Both books include a dedicated Q&A section at the end, addressing common surprises and challenges related to tanning projects.
Do you offer courses in traditional tanning?
We currently do not offer online tanning courses in English, but we are looking into new ideas and options all the time.
Our shopkeeper Hanna Nore works as an instructor and trainer in traditional tanning both in Finland and internationally. She regularly leads courses in the field in Finland, organized by Västra Nylands Folkhögskolan at the Axxell Brusaby facilities in Kemiönsaari, where international seminars and courses are also occasionally organized.
